Jharkhand Advocate General (AG) Binod Poddar has been chosen for National Law Day award for his expertise in constitutional law. Poddar will get the award at the International Conference of Jurists function on March 25 in Mumbai, the release said.
The function is organised by ICJ, AIBA and Indian Council of Jurists.
Binod Poddar, who was born and brought up in Ranchi, enrolled himself as a law practitioner in 1967 after graduating from City’s Chotanagpur Law College in 1963.
He started his elementary education with the traditional ‘guru-shishya’ pattern and then got admitted at Marwari College following which, he went to Zila School in class VIII and then became a graduate in Commerce from St Xavier’s College, Ranchi.
Poddar, also served as the first Additional Advocate General appointed in the year 2001 who was also entrusted with the responsibility of Acting Advocate General for quite some time during the tenure of the first NDA Government in the State. Poddar has been practicing since the year 1967 was later designated as a Senior Advocate.
